NJ Wedding Locations to consider
There are so many great places to get married in New Jersey, including your own home or backyard! Most public parks have no problem with the five or six of us. If you're thinking more than 12, you should call to make sure you don't need a permit. Often, that permit is free, but necessary. It's nice courtesy to make a small donation though!
We also have a great list of small restaurants, museums, mansions and historic sites that will welcome your intimate wedding with open arms for a small reception after the ceremony. Just reach out to us!
Here are some of our favorite locations for NJ Elopements;
-Lambert Observatory; a beautiful outdoor patio with a fountain and a castle backdrop, there are views of the NYC skyline and a covered portico for shelter. Paterson
-Morris Canal Park; a lovely, secluded park with a gazebo, seating and of course, a canal. Permit free but necessary. Clifton
-Flat Rock Brook; rustic, woodsy nature preserve with a reservoir, hiking trails, quarries and wildflowers. It has a rentable building for larger events. Englewood
-Eagle Rock Reservation; with breathtaking views of the New York City skyline, a gazebo that can easily fit 20 of your guests and a world class restaurant (The Highlawn Pavillion) just steps away, this is a wonderful choice. Permit necessary West Orange for more than 12 guests.
Silas Condict Park; a rustic location with a lakeside setting and a rentable antique casino building for larger parties. Kinnelon
Van Riper-Hopper Historic House Museum; a sweet little Dutch Colonial house that was actually built for a bride. It overlooks beautiful Point View Reservoir, which will make for beautiful photos. Wayne
Terhune Memorial Park; Overlooking Pompton Lake at the edge of the Ramapo Valley, this beautiful setting has a gazebo that is right on the shore. It has an interesting history (which includes collies!) and it's a lovely setting for a wedding. Wayne
Kip Castle: A magnificent mansion that recalls a medieval castle. The grounds offer a breathtaking view of the NYC skyline and a sweet lawn area for ceremonies. The interior includes stained glass windows, ornate fireplaces and vaulted ceilings. For a small fee, the outside and inside spaces are available. Verona/West Orange
Garden Vista Ballroom; A landmark building with a ballroom space, rooftop garden, marble lobby and intimate spaces for inside and open air gatherings. Passaic
Goffle Brook Park A gorgeous stretch of park running along the river. There are many different areas; riverside, waterfalls, and an outdoor amphitheater. Hawthorne
We have a host of sweet little restaurants that would be happy to host your wedding and a small intimate reception afterward, and we are happy to be the setting for your celebration. Go to our Pinterest page for other location ideas for small, intimate weddings in NJ and NYC.
AND OF COURSE, you can also elope to your own backyard! We do plenty of great weddings at home; it's a great way to celebrate (and you're yard will look fabulous!)
